Sending e-mails from any database isn't a problem. Sending them
so one doesn't run afoul of various provider's anti-spam and
anti-phishing measures is another thing entirely if you don't
want to find your server's IP addresses listed by spamcop,
spamhaus, or other DNSRBLs.

In today's world, sending bulk e-mail requires systems that
handle bounces, embed information in each message identifying the
recipient address so that it won'd be redacted by things like
AOL's SCOMP feedback to allow you to delete addresses where
people have clicked the ``This is Spam'' button because they're
too lazy or ignorant to go through an unsubscribe procedure.

I just put together procedures on one of our servers here for a
client who sends out e-mails to their clients that allows them to
send a single e-mail message to us with a header containing a URL
allowing us to retrieve a tab delimited list from their servers
via http, https, ftp, etc. then loops through these addresses
sending individual messages with the message received here
including headers identifying the recipients and appropriate
Sender, From: headers to get bounces back to the proper person
for action.

Of course we're happy to help set up systems for this.
