Long before the name "spash" or "splash screen" came into my ken,
maybe so long ago as PROFILE II, but I think more likely on Tandy
6000 filePro 1.2, I was annoyed by a screen that displayed briefly
after electing a choice from its Main Menu (or maybe any menu).
I recall that I patched the binary that produced that unwanted,
undesired, interruption in the flow of things, by changing the
character before, or at the beginning of, the text that displayed
to a NUL.
It's been a loooong time, and my memory about it is hazy, but my
hat's off to you, Brian, for telling people how to get rid of
screen displays (interruptions) that are of no use to the users
(and are of no benefit to the sellers of the underlying software).

PS - I've gotten used to "splash sceens" on Windows, where it takes
a while for a program to load, and they give some confidence
that the program is, in fact, loading.
But in the middle of a user prograam? That is rediculous.
