[Capr-announce] FW: Sec. Salazar & Sen. Cantwell Host Wash. Town Hall Sat., Feb. 18

TO ALL PROPERTY RIGHTS SUPPORTERS,

On short notice an announcement has been made that Interior Secretary Ken
Salazar and Sen. Maria Cantwell will hold a "town meeting" to talk about the
future of the San Juan Islands on Saturday. Please see the messages.

The original plan was to turn the San Juan's into a Nat'l. Monument but they
are instead now looking at a National Conservation Area (NCA)designation
(note that they describe the islands as "back country" below!). NCA's are
administered by the Bureau of Land Management and special conservation rules
apply to public lands within the NCA. However, this is a back door land
grab as the surrounding properties are compelled to follow the same rules!
By any other name, this is theft of private property.

If you can, please be in Anacortes on Saturday to loudly voice your
opposition. Also alert friends and acquaintances and especially those who
live on the Islands who might not get the word.

Sec. Salazar & Sen. Cantwell Host Wash. Town Hall Sat., Feb. 18

Everyone: Make plans to be there. They must hear from you.

They want it to be on the planned National Monument status for the

San Juan Islands. You must make it a town hall on all of the Obama

land grab proposals. National Monuments, Treasured Landscapes,

Obama's America's Great Outdoors Initiative and others.

"ANACORTES, WA-On Saturday, Feb. 18, Secretary of the Interior

Ken Salazar and U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell will host a town hall

meeting in Anacortes to hear about the ongoing progress to conserve

and protect the San Juan Islands."

That's what they want. You must turn the meeting into what you

want. You can go and talk about any issue you are concerned with. Put

the pressure on Salazar and Senator Cantwell.

This may be the only chance this year you get to tell Salazar and the

Obama Administration how you feel about their land grab proposals so

you better be there.

What Salazar Wants for the San Juan Islands:

Located between the mainland of northwestern Washington and

Canada's Vancouver Island, the proposed San Juan Islands National

Conservation Area (NCA) was identified as one of 18 backcountry areas

Interior highlighted as deserving protection by Congress as national

conservation areas or wilderness areas. The area includes public land

on dozens of islands within the San Juan Archipelago and attracts

large numbers of visitors each year due to the islands' unique

cultural and natural resources.
