To King Co. CAPR supporters;

It has come to CAPR's attention that the Seattle Times is investigating a
complaint against King Co. Executive candidate Dow Constantine alleging
sexual harassment.

On October 20th, the Seattle Times sent the King Co Council a Public Records
Request for records relating to any complaints alleging inappropriate
comments or behavior by Constantine toward any employee.

On October 22, the County Council's public records officer transmitted a
packet to the Seattle Times regarding a sexual misconduct investigation
against Constantine. Additional documents were released to the Seattle
Times the week of October 26th.

On October 27th, the undisclosed plaintiff in the sexual harassment
investigation petitioned and was granted an order restraining the release of
any documents until after the November election (see the attached file).

The Seattle Times worked hard to unseal personal documents concerning King
Co. Executive candidate Susan Hutchison, who CAPR supports. Those documents
proved to be little importance. Given the potential magnitude of the
complaint against Constantine, the Times should also print what it knows
about this issue before the election.

If you or your acquaintances have not decided on which candidate to vote
for, please use the above information as you see appropriate. If you are a
supporter of Hutchison, you should consider contacting the Seattle Times and
demanding that they print what they know. Before the election! You can
contact them by email at jsimon at seattletimes.com or call at (206) 464-2200.

For those who would like to take further action, consider posting comments
on local media websites asking why they or the Seattle Times are not
covering this story. If enough comments appear in the blogosphere, this
topic will go viral and the media will be pressured to cover it. One way to
do this is to log onto local media websites, find a recent article regarding
Constantine or the King Co. Executive election and post a comment at the end
of the article if that avenue is provided. Ask why that publication or the
Seattle Times is avoiding the issue. The method will get comments seen
quickly by the public. You can also send an email directly to that
publication's editor. While there are many media outlets in the area, some
that you might consider include: www.seattletimes.com
<http://www.seattletimes.com/> , www.seattlepi.com
<http://www.seattlepi.com/> , www.crosscut.com <http://www.crosscut.com/> ,
www.seattleweekly.com <http://www.seattleweekly.com/> , www.publicola.net
<http://www.publicola.net/> .

Demand full coverage!
