Legislature Fails to Pass Eminent Domain Reform Bills

What flew through the House, didn’t in the Senate. Last month we reported
that two eminent domain reform measures, House Bills 2016 and 2920, were
progressing through the house. Both moved through the House efficiently and
were referred to the Senate. The Judiciary Committee then sat on the bills
before referring them back to the House at the cut-off deadline. This is
unfortunate, given the fairly strong bi-partisan support for reform this
session which included, we’re told, Governor Gregoire. It is not clear at
this point whether this is politics or the short session.

Bob Vos Retains KCD Seat

CAPR Legal Fund President Bob Vos was elected to another three-year term on
the King Conservation District Board of Supervisors. Bob also serves on the
King Co. Agricultural Commission in addition to working as a civil engineer.
His energetic, even-handed work has benefited the citizens of the County and
provided the CAPR Board with, not only leadership, but also an early “ear to
the ground” on what’s happening with rural politics.

Thanks to all who went to the polls to support Bob!

Odds and Ends

Two Ways to the Website
You can now access the CAPR website via the established link at
www.proprights.org <http://www.proprights.org/> or the new link at
www.CAPR.us <http://www.capr.us/> . Same site with the same patriotic
jabber!

Jefferson Co. Website Adds Content
The Jefferson Co. Chapter of CAPR is gradually adding content to its
website. Find them at www.CAPR-Jeffco.com <http://www.capr-jeffco.com/> .

One Good Speaker After Another
At last month’s meeting of the King Co. Chapter of CAPR, Councilwoman Kathy
Lambert gave the group insights into what’s happening in County government,
including the reviews of the Comp Plan and County Charter. This month’s
featured speaker will be Cindy Drake who is heading up the audit of King Co.
D.D.E.S. code enforcement actions. Should be interesting!

Matching Contributions
If you work for a company, which adds matching funds to charitable
contributions, remember the CAPR Legal Fund. All donations to the Legal
Fund are tax deductible and the additional contribution by your employer
makes leverages your contribution towards protecting your property rights.
