THE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FOR CITIZENS’ ALLIANCE FOR PROPERTY RIGHTS

Property Fairness Initiative, I-933

We should have received petitions for I-933 during the week of March 13th.
However, the judge presiding over the March 10th hearing, which was to have
decided the title on the ballot, decided instead to recuse himself because
he is a member of the Audubon Society. This is the kind of shenanigans we
will most likely see from the opposition right up to the election. As soon
as petitions are in our hands later this month, the various team captains
for each legislative district will notify volunteers to get them distributed
so that we can get down to business. If you haven’t signed on yet, contact
Laurel McFarland @ laurel at sage1.com <mailto:laurel at sage1.com> and she will
put you in touch with the right person. For the 45th Legislative District,
contact Jeff Wright at the e-mail address below. We had a good turnout at
the planning meeting last month but you can’t have enough people involved in
an effort like this. If you can’t participate, please consider a donation
for the campaign. You can make it to CAPR and we will see that it gets to
the Farm Bureau.

CAPR Board of Directors Election Results

President Rodney McFarland announced the results of the election at the last
general membership meeting. They are as follows:

            President Rodney McFarland (standing
ovation, please!)
            Vice-President Preston Drew
            Treasurer Pam Sias
            Secretary Jeff Wright
            Director Steve Hammond
            Director Jim Osborne
            Director Tony Zgraggen

The new term starts May 1, 2006. We are happy to have Steve Hammond back.
His inside knowledge of King County government will be valuable.

CAPR Restructured

The Board of Directors has restructured the CAPR organization to promote the
formation
local chapters in other parts of the state and to be more nimble with its
political activities.
This was a needed first step towards becoming a statewide organization. It
will help us
foster groups in other areas and make affiliations with like-minded groups
possible.
In it’s current setup, CAPR consists of:

Citizens’ Alliance for Property Rights
This is the umbrella organization for all segments.

Citizens’ Alliance of Property Rights Political Action Committee (CAPR PAC)
Just as it notes, the PAC will carry out political activities. Under the
current structure,
we have the ability to form additional PAC’s as situations arise.

Citizens’ Alliance for Property Rights Legal Fund
This organization will fund the legal actions that the Board of Directors
deems appropriate.
This would include legal actions to defend property rights, defense of
individuals involved
in property rights disputes and similar items.

Meetings

The next Board of Director’s meeting will be held March 24, 2006.

The next general membership meeting will be held at the IHOP restaurant in
Issaquah
at 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2006. See you there!
