The following is from Orin Wells who is running against Julia Paterson
in the King County council 5th District. He has been endorsed by CAPR.
Rod
We are now into the final days of the election. The 5th district is
one of the keys to success for the Republicans. If I can beat out
Julia Patterson not only will it shock the devil out of her and the
majority on the council but it will turn the balance of power over to
the Republicans. This is especially important for David Irons
because without the council behind him his efforts will be met with
the usual liberal brick wall. These two pieces are very important to
addressing the CAO abomination. An even worse scenario would be the
re-election of Ron Sims with the SAME King County Council rubber
stamp in place. If I am elected, I will prevent that from happening
again for the next 4 years.
The single thing that will help move us into the winning column at
this point is the targeted mailer that is being printed today
(Thursday, Oct. 20th). We hope to get it out this weekend. It may
miss a few absentee voters who mail early, but those have pretty much
made up their minds anyway. It is the others where we need to catch
their attention.
I have the endorsements of:
David Irons who knows how important it is for me to win and change the
council
Dino Rossi who knows that if I win I will see to it that the
elections mess is REALLY fixed and he will not be blind-sided again in
2008
Dave Reichert who is running next year and knows that the Dems will
do everything to get him out of office and fixing the elections mess
will go a long way to making it much harder for them to accomplish that.
Council members Steve Hammond and Reagan Dunn who both know how
critical this race is for all of us.
I have quiet support of other council members who are not willing to
become targets for my opponent.
The King County Police Officers Guild who know that I will do my best
to help improve the law enforcement in this county.
And, your own Citizens Alliance for Property Rights because you folks
know that I will stand by you and do everything in my power to right
the wrong the CAO has brought upon ALL of us.
The King County Republican Party and each of the 5 legislative
districts have endorsed me as well as many individuals.
That is all well and good, but being a virtual unknown I have not
attracted the big money that my opponent has raised, mostly from
Unions and big special interest sources. We are running pretty close
to the vest. I am not wasting what I have been able to raise and
most of it has come from small contributions from individuals who
want to see change.
This is now a critical point in the campaign. Sending the election
mailers will help get our most important issues and message out to
the voters and help sway the swing voters to vote for change. To get
this out we still need about $15,000. I am chipping away at it every
day, but we could use the help of a few more good people like you who
know we have to make a fundamental change in King County
Government. If you can help, please send what you can justify to the
following address:

government and the sure and gradual deterioration of the public morals.
