I no longer live in Washingotn State. So you may remove my name from your
distribution if you want.
I agree with much of the orginial article below. However, I oppose making
blanket statements that link the anti-CAO movement to anti-enviromentalism
and anti-UN movements.
Prior to my recent move to Missouri I was president of the Lake Joy
Community Club. One of the primary purposes of the Lake Joy Community Club
is to protect the Lake Joy environment. Most residents of the Lake Joy
area, and I suspect many other rural residents, are environmentalists. We
oppose the CAO and other King County regulations because they are applied by
representatives of city voters to rural residents. The CAO and many other
King County regulations do not apply to the city residents that control the
county government. This restriction without representation. This is my
view is un-American and should be declared un-consitutional. I am for
restrictions only with representation.
The only way to have long lasting worldwide peace is to have an organization
that allows all countries to present and resolve issues with other
countries. The UN is not perfect. The rich countries, especially the US,
think that they should have more power in the UN. The poor countries think
that the rich countries have too much power. However, a world without an
organization like the UN will sink into massive inequalities and major wars.
This will not be good for the US or any other country.
Linking "restriction only with representation" to anti-environmental and
anti-UN sentiments has cost the "restriction only with representation"
movement my support.

This is so well said. I am forwarding this to PRA and telling them we are
in full support of the Alliance.
Add our organization to the list.

NOW WE ARE TALKING! ... see Preston's point and emails below.
Combining our property rights cause with other strong supportive and
synergetic groups especially groups that gather media attention plus
garner sympathy and support of the masses will energize our stand
enormously!
We desperately need the support of the urban property owners enmasse and
the Kelo New London decision has created a create opportunity out of a
national disaster . Intellectual property rights would further pull in more
urban support.
Unfortunately this has become a political party card, i.e. taking property
rights vs. giving government/environmental more rights. My take on the
recent elections here in King County show that people are loath to vote for
a party not their own even if it means the rural property owners are
suffering. I heard the Democrats were furious that the Republicans did not
join them on the Critical Area Ordinance vote? If this is so, that tells me
that the Republicans or enough of them were enticed to vote for it in prior
forms. Your private property rights or for that matter any personal rights
and freedoms are becoming a political foot ball. That is to say our
fundamental constitutional rights are being parlayed to the highest bidder
in congress, the courts, the county councils, the city councils, the
unincorporated area councils, you name it; your rights are up for grab by
the strongest political group!
As long as fundamental issues such as property rights or any basic rights
and freedom are not held to a constitutional standard or a higher standard
(GOD) this nation will fall as all those civilizations in history have when
they loose their standard on right and wrong. Freedom and liberty are not
relative. You either have them or you don't. I strongly believe we are
being shaken to the core in this country and around the world to force "US"
to take a stand on what that standard will become. The standard was there
before and over the last 30 plus years freedom and liberty has suffered a
slow creeping erosion to the near death state we are in. Property owners
are sadly one of the few groups that can see this because they have had the
personal experience.
When the people rise up and demand that both sides of the aisle including
any party stand firm on the basic constitutional and God given rights this
great nation has been blessed with, then there will be a great positive
shift. When you see basic rights being split up by the government and non
government organizations (NGO), you know for sure we have lost our way.
Once we rise above the political shark pool with the sovereignty of the
people and our basic freedoms and liberties, then you know their has been a
great shift back to the basics.
This package below would help us create allies where there was no
awareness or concern from government takings from rural property owners
before. There is no greater stimulus than having the personal experience of
the government or the environmentalist or the UN or any foreign power taking
away your personal freedom and liberty. Unfortunately each of us in some
way has to experience a personal loss before being catalyzed into action.
In a masochist way, it seems the critical mass of this country's private
property owners need to be taken away to the extent they are able to have
some experience or at least through a friend or relative who has had a
horror story with the likes of King County DDES. It has to get worse
before it gets better and this is definitely happening around the United
States and especially in and around large cities and counties.
So many people are on the fence and have a thousand reasons not to act and
this apathy is taken advantage of by aggressive government agencies and
selfish politicians only interested in perpetuating their jobs and selfish
groups who plan on what they can take from you to perpetuate their agenda.
All of this behavior is about greed and power including taking peoples power
away from them and not about freedom and liberty and empowering the people.

The Property Rights Alliance adds intellectual property to the fight.
If rural property owners with their issues can unite with suburban/urban
property owners with their issues (Kelo) and then add those interested in
intellectual property rights, we could be an unstoppable force.

Letter
Friends,
Could you please take a look at this and ensure that this is something
the property rights folks could sign on to without a problem. This will be
the quintessential property rights link for the IP and physical rights
community to sign on to and the press will love it. Each organization's
logo will go across the top and then signatures will be placed at the
bottom.
Let me know any major qualms as I want to move this out as soon as
possible to organizations ranging from automakers and bio firms to land
rights and homebuilders for sign-on. I already have support from folks in
the IP community to sign onto the letter. I would like to release this
letter Friday to all organizations to begin to sign-on.
Thank you to all of you who have done a tremendous job in leading the
property rights charge.
Note: a TESRA coalition letter PRA has worked on with the help of our
friends at the National Center will also be sent out this week to interested
parties in order for us to send a broad coalition letter to the Senate.
Regards,
Scott
