Subject: [Slug-list] HotOS XII Call For Papers Deadline Approaching

Colleagues,

Happy New Year to all of you. With the HotOS XII submission deadline
just a week away, I want to encourage you again to send your best ideas.
As you know, HotOS is very influential: new ideas get exposure there,
receive the benefit of discussion with colleagues, and ultimately become
important new directions in the field. With major new areas of interest
such as cloud computing and multicore, there is no shortage of problems
and, I'm sure, no shortage of novel approaches to those problems.

For those concerned about potential travel costs, a sample travel budget
is posted at http://www.usenix.org/hotos09/ which shows that attending
HotOS XII will be no more expensive than attending OSDI. We're getting a
truly amazing hotel rate, and the registration and room and board come
in at just about $1,000 U.S.

We are working on getting sponsorship that may help us reduce the
registration and hotel fees even further.

I look forward to seeing your best new ideas next week!
