I have an excellent opportunity available for a UNIX Systems
Administrator to work in Bothell, WA.  This is a contract-hire position.
Our client would like to interview and make hiring decisions this week.

Qualifications: 

o Bachelors Degree or equivalent; 4-5- years technical experience. 

o Experience performing Tier 1/2 hardware and operating system support
for Solaris systems in a Data Center setting. 

o Solaris and application troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.


o Working knowledge of hardware clustering as it pertains to high
availability application architectures. 

o Knowledge of Storage Array Networks and Volume Management. Knowledge
of networking and enterprise systems architecture. 

o Knowledge of multi-tiered web-based application design and
architectures, preferably in environments that utilize ATG Dynamo, BEA
WebLogic, Java, and/or Iplanet. 

o Experience with system and application monitoring tools such as
Nagios, SiteScope, and MRTG. 

o Excellent oral and written communication skills. o Must be able to
work in a fast-paced team environment. 

o Must participate in a 7x24 on-call rotation. 

o Excellent interpersonal, analytical and technical skills.

Responsibilities: 

o Responsibilities include installing and configuring server hardware,
loading OS and patches, deployment of applications, tuning and
configuring OS kernel and networking parameters. 

o Monitoring servers and applications, troubleshooting and resolving
system failures and providing 24x7 on-call technical support. 

o Define and utilize professional concepts and company policies and
procedures to provide solutions. 

o Setup backup programs on servers and work with Backup team to ensure
backup programs execute successfully. 

o Proactively monitor service level performance of hardware and
software. Report any performance issues to the team leader. 

o Monitor file servers for viruses, and keep current server anti-virus
signatures current. 

o Participate in QA testing and integration of new server software, as
needed. 

o Other projects/duties as assigned.
