Job Title: UNIX Systems Engineer
Location: Headquarter for Classmates Online in Renton, WA
Placement efforts are directly from HR team at Classmates.

Duration: Permanent or long term contract TBD

Description:
The UNIX Systems Engineer is responsible for the support and maintenance of Classmates operational systems. Is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of Classmates UNIX servers and systems, which support both the production web site, and also infrastructure required for office Internet access and mail exchange on the internet. 

The UNIX Systems Engineer must possess first hand experience in UNIX system administration. This position is responsible for emergency response as needed to correct system failures as well as participation in 24/7 on call rotation.

The UNIX Systems Engineer is a key technical resource that provides technical support for various projects.  In addition, this position works closely with other departments within IT as part a cross functional team. 

The Job Requirements:
•	3-5 years experience required. 
•	Ability to participate in 24/7 on call rotation and escalation support.
•	Experience with and a solid understanding of UNIX-based operating systems specifically Solaris and Linux.
•	Experience with various systems applications including but not limited to Veritas Netbackup, Apache, Oracle, DNS, NFS, SMTP.
•	Experience with server hardware including but not limited to Dell, Sun, Hitachi, Netapp.
•	Experience supporting large customer facing web sites with 100% uptime requirements.
•	Ability to build and install systems from the ground up.
•	Experience supporting and maintaining large scale tape backup and recovery systems.
•	A solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, routing, load balancing. 
•	Familiarity with network hardware, switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers.
•	Experience administering a java application server running on UNIX such as ATG Dynamo or IBM Web Sphere a plus.  
•	Ability to program in various administrative languages including UNIX shell and Perl.
•	Ability to clearly document tasks and processes related to the position.
•	Ability to solve problems quickly and completely; to multitask, to handle various tasks and responsibilities concurrently.
