<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:georgia,serif;font-size:small">my personal take: it is always hard to schedule 7 matches in 6 months--summer or winter! all teams need to be proactive to get them done. I totally sympathize with Hugh's team and Kevin's team re scheduling finals in late Nov and Dec, and I would extend their final into Jan BUT....Hugh has a 6 man team, and I can't believe they can't assemble 4 or 5 to meet Kevin's team. The whole team would get awards through semis, and those that attend would get awards for finals. We're not talking a lot of points here, and I don't think any of the awards (Mini Mck, jabon) are affected this time around)..but that is my take...</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:georgia,serif;font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:georgia,serif;font-size:small">this is from someone who had to plead for a 2 day extension for the semis, as I was totally working for bridge (the NLM sectional and Leavenworth partnership) in the two weeks between Oct 15 and Nov 15. <div dir="ltr">While I think John is leaping to assumptions (I haven't talked to
the other team yet to see what can and can't happen), the suggestion to change
the schedule has been a common one. Trying to schedule matches in late November
and then in December is really tough. Similarly, summertime is tough for a lot
of teams. I know Vancouver BC starts it a lot earlier. It does seem like a
bummer that the months where there are the fewest travel/vacation conflicts
(Jan/Feb/March) are not utilized for the round robin.

this year's Bracket B Round Robin playoff matches due to very heavy holiday
travel commitments by all teams. That, plus the requirement for ALL team
members of a 5- or 6-member team to play in BOTH playoff matches to qualify
for 1st- or 2nd-place masterpoints, is onerous and conflicts with the
regular-season requirement for each player to play in HALF of the matches
(and by extension, only one of the two playoff matches) to qualify. As a
result of this rule and the scheduling, we must now dis-enfranchise one of
our top players.<br><br>Please:<br><br>-1: Schedule the Round Robin regular
season to start and end a half-month earlier: March 15 to Sept 30, giving
three full months for the playoffs to accommodate heavy holiday travel
schedules.<br><br>-2 : If possible within the Conditions of Contest, award
playoff masterpoints to ALL team members based on the team's final results
during the playoffs, even if a player played in only one of the two playoff
matches.</span> </p>
