<div dir="ltr">While I think John is leaping to assumptions (I haven't talked to the other team yet to see what can and can't happen), the suggestion to change the schedule has been a common one. Trying to schedule matches in late November and then in December is really tough. Similarly, summertime is tough for a lot of teams. I know Vancouver BC starts it a lot earlier. It does seem like a bummer that the months where there are the fewest travel/vacation conflicts (Jan/Feb/March) are not utilized for the round robin.<div><br></div><div>Has it always started in April? Is it worth exploring trying to shift it?</div><div><br></div><div>This is something I was curious about but didn't have a strong opinion about myself.</div><div><br></div><div>Eric</div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr">On Mon, Nov 19, 2018 at 10:29 PM JC Chupack <<a href="mailto:pubcomms@bridgeinseattle.org">pubcomms@bridgeinseattle.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><u></u><div><div style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">FYI... <div id="m_-2849945261715177495message"></div><br id="m_-2849945261715177495br3"><div id="m_-2849945261715177495signature"><div>--<br></div><div><span style="font-size:10px" class="m_-2849945261715177495size">Publicity & Communications, ACBL Unit 446</span><span style="font-size:10px" class="m_-2849945261715177495size"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size:10px" class="m_-2849945261715177495size">Like/follow us on Facebook: </span><a href="http://facebook.com/SeattleBridge" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:10px" class="m_-2849945261715177495size">http://facebook.com/SeattleBridge</span></a><span style="font-size:10px" class="m_-2849945261715177495size"> </span><span style="font-size:10px" class="m_-2849945261715177495size"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size:10px" class="m_-2849945261715177495size">Visit our website: </span><a href="http://bridgeinseattle.org" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:10px" class="m_-2849945261715177495size">http://bridgeinseattle.org</span></a><br></div><div><br></div></div><div id="m_-2849945261715177495content"><br>============ Forwarded Message ============<br>From : <a href="mailto:no-reply@squarespace.info" target="_blank">no-reply@squarespace.info</a><br>To : <a href="mailto:pubcomms@bridgeinseattle.org" target="_blank">pubcomms@bridgeinseattle.org</a><br>Date : Mon, 19 Nov 2018 22:05:05 -0800<br>Subject : Form Submission - Contact The Unit Board - Earning masterpoints and scheduling Round Robin tournament playoffs<br><br><br><blockquote style="border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:6px;margin-left:5px"> <div> <p> <b>Name:</b> <span>John McCaslin</span> </p> <p> <b>ACBL Number:</b> <span>8688389</span> </p> <p> <b>Email Address:</b> <span><a href="mailto:mccaslins@mail.com" target="_blank">mccaslins@mail.com</a></span> </p> <p> <b>Subject:</b> <span>Earning masterpoints and scheduling Round Robin tournament playoffs</span> </p> <p> <b>Message:</b> <span>We have had almost impossible problems scheduling this year's Bracket B Round Robin playoff matches due to very heavy holiday travel commitments by all teams. That, plus the requirement for ALL team members of a 5- or 6-member team to play in BOTH playoff matches to qualify for 1st- or 2nd-place masterpoints, is onerous and conflicts with the regular-season requirement for each player to play in HALF of the matches (and by extension, only one of the two playoff matches) to qualify. As a result of this rule and the scheduling, we must now dis-enfranchise one of our top players.<br><br>Please:<br><br>-1: Schedule the Round Robin regular season to start and end a half-month earlier: March 15 to Sept 30, giving three full months for the playoffs to accommodate heavy holiday travel schedules.<br><br>-2 : If possible within the Conditions of Contest, award playoff masterpoints to ALL team members based on the team's final results during the playoffs, even if a player played in only one of the two playoff matches.</span> </p> <p>(Sent via <i><a href="http://www.bridgeinseattle.org" target="_blank">ACBL Unit 446</a></i>)</p> </div></blockquote></div></div><br></div>_______________________________________________<br>
