<div bgcolor="#FFFFFF" text="#000000" class="">I confess it feels weird
to me to spend unit money on a venue that doesn't benefit anyone in the
bridge community. Ditto things like buying drinks, more expensive food,
etc. SBC or EBC would both seem like better options to me than an
unrelated for profit location like Eastlake Bar & Grill. Alcohol
also goes a LOT further if we aren't paying restaurant prices for it.<br class="">

Ann, et al,
<div class=""><br class=""></div>
<div class="">As usual, our capable and thoughtful President is
working through the issue, coming to terms with important
considerations.</div>
<div class=""><br class=""></div>
<div class="">There is much value in the unit holiday party and I’m
generally very supportive of the idea. The value and experience can be
dependent on factors for which I have no insight as regards Eastlake Bar
& Grill — factors like sufficient convenient parking and
suitability of the room in terms of size and ambience. </div>
<div class=""><br class=""></div>
<div class="">Has the possibility of having the event at SBC been
considered? I believe the dates of interest are Dec 12 or 19, both
Wednesdays. SBC has beginner lessons on Wednesday evenings, but its
calendar does not indicate they extended into mid-December. I don’t
know if Nick would be interested in opening up SBC for something like
this, but if we are planning to pay a site fee, perhaps he would be
interested. Just a thought.</div>
<div class=""><br class=""></div>
<div class="">I will support whatever consensus is reached concerning a
party.</div>

will be finger food and salads and desserts, about $300 (or making up

you, in the distant past, the unit used to pay for a sit-down dinner for
the holiday party at a restaurant. Since I've been on the board, we've
usually done these at a unit member's home, giving them a budget for
booze and main course, and the rest of us bring a side. We've also done
these at a local bar, with the unit picking up the drinks and we
individually paid for our meals.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br class=""></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:small">Why do we have

to thank the non-board members who contribute to the organization
