It details the 40+ projects staff completed during August. We thought we’d share this information also with you, as several of the things we are working on affect units, districts, clubs, and teachers.<o:p></o:p></div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; "><o:p> </o:p></div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; ">We hope you will all participate in our new, expanded College Bowl program. Through a partnership with the Education Foundation, we are now able to pay expenses and offer stipends to those who are willing to form and coach a college team. We plan to support these teams with training from our TDs, local teachers, and (we hope) unit and club members. We have already had a commitment from District 7 to field five teams (they had the winning team this year—Georgia Tech) and we hope other Districts can do the same. With your support, we could see 50 or more teams competing (instead of the 17 we had this year). We believe each team will introduce at least 10 young people to bridge. You can do the math and see how helpful this program could be to ACBL’s future.<o:p></o:p></div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; "><o:p> </o:p></div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; ">We have also started researching district and tournament financials. Our goal is to provide an overview of how the ACBL looks financially, as a whole. We believe we can build “best practice” guidance that will help unit and district boards and tournament chairs create better budgets and financial forecasts. While many Districts have cooperated with this effort, a few still have not given us the financial reports we need. We’ll be reaching out to get the rest of the info we need, soon.
