<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Unfortunately, however, I will not be able to speak to the matter of the donation requested by SeattleNextGenBridge.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">My position does permit me to be on the board of a nonprofit organization (or several!).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">But I cannot be involved in any way in fund-raising activities.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">I made this clear to Anne Farmer on the day she asked me to serve on the board, and consistently after that.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">I will suggest one thing, however.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">If the Unit Board decides to make a donation, I strongly recommend the Board make very clear to Anne any conditions attached to that donation; and confirm it in writing or
by email. I will also urge Anne, and to Bill Bumpas, the treasurer of SeattleNextGenBridge, the necessity of following those conditions completely.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">We should avoid any repeat of the problems which followed the Unit’s last donation to this group.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">I regret I cannot be a better “liaison” between the two organizations, at least on this issue.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">But I did provide each of you with a copy of a recent memo I prepared (for the SeattleNextGenBridge board), expressing my views about the accomplishments of the group and the
problems it was encountering. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Anne Farmer of Seattle Next Generation Bridge has asked to be included on the agenda to provide a report and request a grant she described as a subsidy for a youngster's travel to Youth NABC Toronto. I have asked her to limit this to no more than 5 minutes.
Three of our unit board members also serve on the SNGB board: Ann, John and Patti. While (as I understand) Ann and Patti will be out of town and unable to attend this board meeting, insights/context they and/or John might provide into Anne F's grant request
would be appreciated. <br>
