Yeah, Anne had a very long "10 minute" conversation with me about Geekwire. She wants to have a booth at what amounts to a booze/schmooze party they're having at CenturyLink field. She didn't approach me about it as a board member (at least as far as she said); the impression I got was that she wanted me personally to buy a ticket and/or co-fund a booth. I declined, mostly because I don't think it's the right place for Bridge to be promoted, much less how I want to spend my money/time given that. I'm all for getting bridge and the ACBL tapped into the tech community around here, but that didn't seem like the right event for it, in my opinion. Were I asked as a board member (or if that's what she meant to be doing), I'd advise us against it.

She said she intends to do it with NextGenBridge (in a very "well, if you don't take this great opportunity, I'll do it myself" flounce), and I said I'd be interested in knowing what conversions she sees from that marketing effort, toward consideration for future decisions. To be honest, it's possibly a better fit for that kind of org (charitable/sponsorship-seeking vs. promoting our games/events), although I still don't expect much from it. I hope to be proven wrong.

JC

On Thu, Feb 18, 2016 at 10:25 AM, Ann Romeo <annromeo@gmail.com> wrote:

I'll be going on the meeting on the 25th as well. We confirmed that the NextGenBridge kids who come to play in the May KO Sectional will play in the long-planned limited section shown on the current flyer. We thus will make no changes to the flyer in this regard and should proceed to finalize and print the flyer for distribution at Vasa and the clubs.
I will be attending the NextGenBridge board meeting on Feb 25.

Anne will be coming to the Unit board meeting on March 7 to request a grant. (At the request of a Unit board member who also sits on the NextGenBridge board, I asked Anne if it would be workable to postpone this to our April Unit board meeting. She said timing is now short for several reasons and she asked to come in March.) We will put her early on the agenda, following approval of Feb meeting minutes. I asked that she limit the duration of her presentation and be prepared to respond to questions from Unit board members. We will then dismiss her for our discussion of her request.

Heads up for JC: At one point during the call Anne brought up Geek Wire, which she feels would have beneficial application to the Seattle bridge community.
