I just wanted to say a quick thank you to the unit for providing the knockout event this past weekend. While online bridge will never truly replace face to face for me, getting to play in an event people were taking seriously online was a nice respite from current events.
If the unit continues to do this I would strongly encourage more widespread adoption of Zoom (or some other video chat system) during the events. We played four matches, three of which had Zoom rooms, and those three were definitely a more fun experience. There is more to bridge than sitting in a room by yourself clicking buttons on a computer, and being able to see and talk with the people I was playing with made the experience substantially better.
I would also recommend changing the default to allow kibitzers. Part of the fun of these events is watching your friends play after you get knocked out. I know that having kibitzers makes it slightly easier for a pair to cheat, but honestly if a pair wants to cheat in these events, they can do so whether there are kibitzers or not. We should not be optimizing the enjoyment of our game for minor security improvements.
Thanks again!
Jeff
