Hi all,
Given the latest CDC guidance on avoiding gatherings of 50+ people for the
next 8 weeks (ending May 10) as well as social distancing guidance to help
"flatten the curve" locally, there's a few key actions/changes I need to
put before the board:
- *NLM Spring Sectional: *I ask the board to weigh in on whether to
cancel the NLM Spring Sectional by voting here (login required to ensure
only board members votes are counted): *https://forms.gle/zGScnyXtZeW8sfE57
<https://forms.gle/zGScnyXtZeW8sfE57>*
- If we cancel, at our April board meeting, we will discuss and agree on
how to compensate SBC for the cancellation.
- While we could wait for the April board meeting to decide, I see
little reason to wait. The more notice we give to our players,
the better.
Submitting the "abstain" option on the form will, among other
things, imply
you prefer to wait on the discussion until April.
- Procedurally, I believe we're okay to do this over email based on
my read of the by-laws. I do know at least two board members
besides myself
who have suggested this action; thus even if we decide a formal motion is
required, I can provide a second. If anyone disagrees, let me know.
- *Board meetings: *Until otherwise stated, we will be holding board
meetings via *teleconference only*, no physical location. I'll send out
a conference bridge when we are a bit closer to the date. If anyone has
any concerns with this approach or would need additional assistance, please
let me know.
- *KO Sectional: *I believe it is unlikely we will be able to hold the
KO sectional. However, no official guidance has extended to that date yet,
and we have time still to make a decision. In planning/prep, though, I *need
a volunteer to call Bev at IUOE *to inquire if there is need-by date
from her side for the decision and confirm any expectations in terms of
compensation in the event we cancel.
For any cancellation and change, my priorities are to help continue to
support a healthy bridge community in Seattle (literally and figuratively),
by keeping players safe and keeping our great sites happy with us.
If anyone has any further thoughts on actions needed or that we should be
considering, or if anyone has procedural concerns with the above, please
feel free to reply.
Thanks,
JC
