Dear Club Manager,

The current Guest Policy at Virtual Clubs has been in effect since May 7.
After much review and consultation with many players and clubs (including
polling at the Virtual Club roundtable meetings), the decision has been
made to change the policy and rename it as the “Visitor Policy” to reduce
confusion with the upcoming Guest Membership.

Here
are the highlights:

   - Number of visitors allowed has been increased to 15%.
   - Visiting pairs are no longer disallowed but will count as two visitors.

Please note that this 15% maximum is not for any one game; we will look at
your club’s weekly total of players.

We all want the same thing – more players playing more bridge – but it
should be done in a fair and ethical way. The 15% threshold can be viewed
more as a guideline than anything else. What is more important is your
club’s actions.

Examples of things we want to encourage:

   - John and Mabel played at our club for 30 years before moving away in
   2018 – let them play!
   - A regular at your club wants to play with their partner from another
   state or province – let them play!

Again, the 15% amount is for the average of your club’s weekly total. There
should be no need to tell a player they can’t bring a visitor because
you’re expecting 10 tables today and a few other players are already
bringing a visiting partner.

Examples of things that are not acceptable:

   - Using unit or district databases or your club website to advertise
   that everyone should come play in your club and “abandon” their regular
   club(s).
   - Under-cutting the price of other clubs and/or mirroring their schedule.
   - Soliciting players that are not in your Include List.

As always, to enable a Visitor to register for your games, you will need to
“follow” them with your VACB ID and then modify your tournament in order to
pick up your new follow list. If you need help with any of these steps,
send a message to one of the VACB_TD’s that are online (found in the Host
tab on BBO) throughout the day.

We will be sending an email about the new Virtual Club Visitor Policy to
all members tomorrow.
