Somehow, in the flurry of emails on this subject, I don’t think I ever received the text.  But I am sure it is OK, given the drafting and editing to date.

This a suggestion as an alternative way of delivering it.
What about taking a few minutes to do it before a session at the Bothell tournament.  We could check with Barbara as to when she will be there.   More people will hear it.  It would not disrupt or delay her party at Mercer Island.  We could take and print a picture of the presentation.  Also, we could list the others in the unit who have achieved that status, lest they feel slighted.  Include Tom C – ignore for this purpose the fact that he has not transferred into our unit.

The party is a bridge party, right?  It'll still be going by the time the meeting is done and we get over there.  We could give it to her during a break between rounds. I mentioned this possibility to Karen Hudesman, and she was fine with it.  I'm concerned that if we try to do it at six, most people won't be there. However I'll go along with whatever the group thinks best.

My 2 cents: Personally, I believe we all make mistakes, especially when we are angry.  I think Barb's resignation a few years ago was a mistake...  On the other hand, I can think of few people in our area who has done more for bridge, and I totally respect Barb's dedication and talents.  I think the proclamation crafted by Monty is appropriate and I would love to be able to give it to her at her celebration.
