Poor Jeff – what a hassle for him.  Someone familiar with bridge tournaments that know directors handle a lot of cash???

Greetings, friends –

 

Here is the statistical report for the Bothell sectional just completed.  Jeff Jacob, DIC, provided it to me tonight.

Note that we had a total of 214 tables.  

I believe the comparable tournament in 2017 was also in Bothell, but took place later in the fall, October 27-27.  The table count at that tournament was 193. 

 

I provided to Jeff the required check from the Unit, payable to the ACBL, in the amount of $3,002.11.  That much is routine.  What is not routine is that he called me tonight to report that someone broke into his car, and stole our check, along with the ACBL computer, the Bridge Mates, his medications, etc.

Sigh.  Fortunately, I have all the cash and checks from the tournament which he had turned over to me and to Monty, and will deposit them first thing in the morning.

I will stop payment on our check at the same time.  Per Jeff’s request, I will mail a substitute check directly to the ACBL Finance Dept.  That is only a small part of Jeff’s problems, however.

 

I have paid, in person or by mail, all of our obligations I know about arising from the tournament.  But there is at least one further bill of unknown amount.  And if any of you have other amounts due, I appreciate it if you would let me know within the next week.  I will be working in San Diego the next two weeks; but before our meeting October 10 I will provide you what I hope will be a full financial summary of the tournament.
