That's a good point about the announcements. I've certainly heard similar
(and witnessed it a lot in body language) that people would prefer they are
shorter or get skipped. Have also had people who were getting thanked
explicitly ask to not be thanked to speed things up in the past.

Not sure what the best solution is. My general approach has generally been
to try to get through them quickly.
