[SBU Board] Round Robin Party payment

Greetings to all from (sort of) sunny Bermuda.

I am fine in principle with paying Nick, for this year and last, at the same rate we paid to EBC the year before that. I am over 3,000 miles from my records, so cannot verify what we paid ESC. I guess it would have been early in 2016, or maybe late in 2015. But if Kim, or Mike, or some other board member, is sure we paid EBC per the formula, it is OK with me to use that to calculate payments to Nick for last year and this year.

While I would like to hear from the Treasurer, he is away until Feb 5 or 6 and might be only intermittently on line.

I would like to see Nick paid the normal/full amount -- as was done for other clubs in the past -- for this year and last.

Either let him do the unit a favor or pay him full price, don't pay poorly for a good service.

I vote paying him full.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi All,

When letting Nick know that I would need to coordinate with the treasurer (John) to pay him for the Round Robin Party game, he mentioned that all he was expecting was the sanction fee ($14). He apparently did it for free last year as well.

This surprised me because it involves him opening his club, doing dishes, paying for lights/power/etc and then also directing and helping run the game.

When I asked Kim about how she did it when she was running it, she said that when they ran it at EBC they paid the normal amount for director and site.

Per the chart she provided me, that's:

Club Fees: $12/table up to 10 tables and then $10/table after that
Director Fees: $80 for up to 10 tables, and $5/table above that
Sanction Fees: $2.25/table (used to be $1.25 per table)

so $152 to Nick and $13.50 for the sanction

Given that we take in $60 per team and don't have a lot of associated costs, my preference would be to pay Nick for his time and the club. My preference would also be to pay him for the party last year. It sounded like he might have offered to do it for free last year which Mike might have taken him up on. +Mike for context. I would far prefer he help out the unit by encouraging people to attend unit events, helping put teams together, help grow bridge in the area. However, if he made that offer for last year then it might also be appropriate to just pay him the regular amount for this year.

A middle option might be splitting the difference and paying him $100(ish).

How does the rest of the board feel? Specifically: how much to Nick, and should we also pay him the difference for last year as well.

Eric
