[SBU Board] Fwd: Future NABC in Vancouver

Folks,

Please see Nick Stock’s (one of two Vancouver Unit 430 reps to D19 board) email below.

I think it’s great they’re looking at this. The economics might benefit from a favorable Cdn$ exchange rate — though things sometimes change quickly and unexpectedly.

I know of no serious recent or current discussion or consideration of the idea of a Seattle NABC proposal — if you do, please let me know. Moreover, support of the U446 board for U430’s exploration and potential pursuit of hosting an upcoming NABC might add gravitas to the idea.

Your thoughts?

Thanks,
Tim

> Hi All,

> I have just attended a small meeting of people from Unit 430 who are interested in pursuing the staging of a future NABC in Vancouver. Perusal of the NABC calendar shows that the following tournaments might not yet have been booked by ACBL Headquarters:
> Spring 2022, Spring 2024, Spring 2025 and beyond. As the sponsoring organization is nominally the geographic district, we thought it prudent to inform and perhaps involve the District Board, that the people at the meeting would be contacting ACBL Headquarters regarding the possibility of such a tournament.
>
> As you know Vancouver is a popular ACBL member tourist destination so it could be expected to do fairly well. If there are currently some plans for a future Seattle (or other district city) NABC we'd like to hear about them so as to coordinate. Please also advise of your current views regarding holding a future NABC in Vancouver.
