I vote yes.  I have played in several games when Jeremy was directing, and have nothing but good memories of his work. Nice gesture, amount insignificant and we get a payback.

However, are we establishing a precedent?  Perhaps we should point out that we have an expectation of availability when we need him.

Hi All, 
Jenni and Matt are encouraging Jeremy Gulley to become a local tournament director.  In order to reach this position, Jeremy needs to take an ACBL test that costs $50.00.  Jenni points out that when she took this test, her local unit covered the cost.

My question to you:  should we cover Jeremy's fees?

Personally, I think doing so is an indication of both our support of Jeremy and the idea that it is in our best interest to have locally-based directors.

I also think this is good news in general--Jeremy is one of the good guys, with strong experience with new players, and appears to be fair-minded, disciplined, hardworking, and extremely supportive of bridge.

Thoughts?
