[SBU Board] Unit Game ideas

Hi all,

One of the things we are trying to do on the unit board is find more
ways to help the clubs. I had an idea that I've bounced off a few but
was hoping to now share with a larger audience to get feedback and also
understand if your club would be interested in participating.

The idea is as follows:

1) We would dedicate 12 of our 24 "unit championships" to a monthly unit
game, 1 per month to various clubs based roughly on table count/interest.
2) We would work with the club owners/managers to pick which of their
existing games for that month would be the unit championship.
3) We would highlight the unit championship date/time/club in advance in
the newsletter
4) We would also highlight the game in the periodic mailings that JC
sends out

The goal would be to increase participation in 1 club game per month in
an attempt to encourage people who might not otherwise play at that game
to give it a try. It would also provide extra masterpoints at no extra
cost to regulars of that game.

Motivation for players would be:

1) Extra masterpoints with no extra cost
2) An achievement/race of some sort, possibly stratified, where players
would get to count their best 3-4 finishes (in %) for the year. Winners
in each strat (if stratified) would be highlighted at the end of the
year, possibly with some sort of award.
3) Another award for anyone who manages to attend all 12 unit games,
regardless of %. They would be recognized and receive some sort of
award. My inclination would be 1-2 free plays to use at a club of their
choice to be reimbursed by the unit.

Some questions:

1) Do you have any suggestions/thoughts/ideas on this? Can we improve it
in some way to make it more appealing and potentially drive more people
to your game when you host one of these MUGs?
2) Would you be interested in participating?
3) Any other thoughts/comments/etc?

Thanks!
