Thanks, Eric.
I am ashamed to admit I did not even know what the EBU is.
But my first read thru the attachment to your message convinces me that the English seem to have a wonderful idea – something we should consider for here.
My horizons for pirating good ideas should not be limited to our shores!
Looks like something which would be most effective if implemented nationwide (read, “ACBL”), not in a single district.
But maybe we could pilot a scaled-down version here.
Thanks again.

Observations were great and made lots of sense. I don't have tons to contribute since I'm not involved in teaching, but one thing I thought was really interesting was the junior award scheme they are using in the EBU to track progression and give students goals. IIRC, participation and engagement jumped significantly after they started using it. Link here: http://www.ebedcio.org.uk/junior-award-scheme

Thank you, John, for your excellent observations. I share much of what you experienced. But the most significant is the lack of time to teach, especially to teach bidding.
The kids love to play hands so I incorporate one hand, pre-dealt in boards, at each session. I set up the boards so that they incorporate what I've told them in a brief lecture at the start of each class.
As regards other cities, I would be glad to talk to Kathy Lane who runs Reno Youthbridge. I worked with her while we had our house in Reno.

Greetings, friends.
Attached is a memo with observations and suggestions about our program.
