[SBU Board] Unit Holiday Party Date & Host

Don't everybody jump at once! :)

I am happy to host the unit party. Of the dates suggested below, I cannot host on 12/12 or 12/15. Also, the Fircrest Sectional is Dec. 9/10/11, so perhaps we should stay off of Dec. 9th?

So, if the unit party is Dec. 8th or 14th, I am happy to host. I can also host on Dec. 9th, as weekends are probably better for people and I wasn't planning on playing in Tacoma that day. But I thought others from our unit might be playing and I didn't want to exclude them.

If anyone else was thinking about hosting and just hasn't responded yet, please speak up. I have hosted before and am happy to let others take a turn. But, I wanted to make sure we had a location so we can celebrate all of the great work we have done this year.

Our unit holiday party is an enjoyable way to cap our board's year of work together, greet newly-elected incoming board members, and visit with and thank others who are key to the functioning of our unit.  By tradition, this event is held at the home of one of our board members.  Spouses/partners are welcome, as are kids where parents do not make other arrangements.  Current board members bring a side dish or dessert to share, and the host arranges a main course and beverages for which s/he is reimbursed by the unit.

The purpose of this email is to get the conversation started regarding the date and location of our holiday party this year.  While I've included the subject on the agenda for our board meeting this coming Wednesday, some of our board members are unable to make this meeting, and I will likely have to miss the November board meeting if it is held on Monday, Nov 7 as I must then be in Whistler for a D19 board meeting. 

Date
Last year the party was on Friday, Dec 11 at the home of John Aslin and Carole Grisham.  The Fall NABC this year runs through Dec 4, with return travel taking another day or so.  Often times it's better not to get too deep into the holiday season.  With this in mind, candidate dates for this year's party might include Dec 8, 9, 12, 14 and 15.  What are your preferences and constraints as to the date this year?  It is appropriate for the host to have final say amongst viable dates.

In the most recent years, the party has been hosted at the homes of some of our current board members.   Please advise if you would be interested in hosting this year.
