Folks,
As discussed at this evening's board meeting, I'm forwarding here the email string with McKenzie that includes his suggestion about dropping the 0-500 Swiss and his interest in participating in the Events Committee.

The last time that Committee operated, it included non-Board members and a senior ACBL director (Matt K). I would hope to have the same kind of participation this time. Without pre-empting the Unit Board's druthers as to who might be asked/invited to be on the Committee, would you be available and willing if asked?

>> I would like to make a strong suggestion to the Board to change the February sectional Swiss schedule. This weekend's 0-500 Swiss had only five entrants. I went to each of the teams and explained the situation, and none of them wanted to play in so small an event, so we folded them into the 0-2000 event.
>>
>> If the Board is looking to hold three Swisses (plus a 199er), I suggest something like Open/5000, 3000/1500, and 750/300. Another solution is to hold a Bracketed Round Robin, where teams are bunched into groups of seven, eight, or nine and play against everyone in their group. (This can be done with the entire field or in, say, an under 2000 group with an A/X field on top of it.)
>>
>> Additionally, once again we didn't have enough teams for an afternoon 199er swiss. This was a great disappointment to a few players... I'd prefer that it be removed from the schedule of alll sectionals, since I can't remember the last time we were able to hold one.

>> In preparation, please read John W's financial report summary email of 2/22 and my 2017 tournament line up email of 2/18, and review your calendars for candidate alternative April Unit board meeting dates as I will be in Spokane April 4 for a D19 board meeting.
