[SBU Board] April/May SUN reminder

Re publicity for Non-SBU local bridge organizations: As I will miss the Monday meeting, I’d like to throw out a comment. I think it is inappropriate for us to include a flyer in the Sun for such folks, but I think we could well include news items or short bulletins perhaps a quarter page max for local bridge related activities. Thank you, JC for volunteering to write up something.

I didn't realize or put together that B4Y was a separate org, but now knowing it is, I'm +1 on the concern raised by Jen and Ann. It's an awkward precedent even if we fundamentally agree that it's a good and beneficial program for the Bridge community.
Whatever we come to on this decision, it raises the need for us to have some clearly defined rules and standards about what we do or don't promote using our resources (newsletter, blog, facebook, email lists, etc.). That seems like a good initiative for me to work on and draft a proposal for board approval for April (March being fully loaded, of course). Once we have our set of rules, it becomes a much simpler proposition and only anything that would require exception or changing to those rules would need full approval/agreement, expediting our processes. I'll add that to my to-do list. :) (Again, to note, this does not solve or resolve this issue now...just something to pre-empt future debate.)

Jen, your concern is my concern. Yes, I'll send everyone a sample of what it looks like--actually David has it (he created it!) Can you send it to the board for their review?

Do we generally put flyers for independent bridge groups in the SUN? I don't object to adding this flyer, but it's setting a precedent that we might want to consider.
I think we should at least review it before publication - can you send the flyer to this list?

Perhaps we can resolve this prior to the board meeting. Are there objections to putting a copy of the b4y summer camp flyer in the next Sun Newsletter?

Hi David,
I want to put in a copy of the flyer for the youth summer camp...but want to get the board's permission (hope to put it on the agenda for Monday's meeting). If it is a go, I'll get you a copy of the 'flyer/poster/placard..'
As well as a brief article about the camp (and my usual hospitality pleas and comments on UW game. Will try to get you stuff by the 9th.

Hello,
This is a reminder that the deadline for the next (April/May) issue of the SUN is coming up on Thursday, March 10 for the April/May issue. Please send any unit or district board news, hospitality announcements, membership report, or other material to seattlebridge at hotmail.com. (I have already received flyers for the NLM and Knockout sectionals.) If you have anything ready to send me now, particularly photos, that would be super helpful. Thank you!
