I like the electronic vote, but I’m also in favor of allowing both candidates to speak directly to our board. I think that’s particularly called for here, where one of the candidates has regular access to the board and the other candidate has little or none.

I'm in Penticton all week, but would like to get this information to you right away.

I suggest we conduct the Unit 446 board members' voting in the manner that is in accordance with your consensus view. That said, it seemed that last year's District Director vote (conducted electronically) was convenient and ran smoothly. Please let me know your preference.

Either way, l need to advise Kelley McGuire which way our unit board will be conducting our vote.

Tim

Dear Unit President:

As you know your unit board will be asked to vote in the upcoming election
for 1st Alternate ACBL Board of Directors.

The election period will commence on August 15, 2016. In order to be
included in the count, the ballots must be received by the Director of
Elections by the close of business on September 15, 2016.

Candidates are:
Jerry Thorpe, Tim White

Our records indicate that the total membership as of June 1 for
Unit 446 is 1,450.

Please let me know if your unit board members will:

1. Vote at an election meeting or
2. Electronic voting.

If you do choose an election meeting it can be done in conjunction with a
regular board meeting. Please do NOT schedule a meeting prior to August 15,
since the election materials will not be available before then.

If there is to be an election meeting, the following information is needed
no later than July 15:

1. The date, time and place including address, city, state, zip of your
scheduled election meeting.

2. The person and address for mailing the election materials. This cannot
be a P.O. Box number. (The materials will be sent via FedEx.)

3. A phone number for the person who is to receive the FedEx package.

Please let me know of any questions or concerns. Also, you may view the
2016 Election Regulations on the ACBL web site by clicking on the link
