[SBU Board] U446 Disciplinary Function

Hi Henry,

Thank you for your containing service as U446 disciplinary Chair.

Last evening we held our monthly U446 Board meeting.  Much discussion centered on implications and remedies related to violations of facility smoking and parking rules by players in the course of the Suntan sectional at Forest Ridge School in July.  The severity of the violations has put at risk our future access to Forest Ridge School for our tournaments.

John Aslin, Unit Recorder, led us through a summary of the ACBL's prescribed formal disciplinary process and related communication he has had with ACBL HQ.  The communication included confirmation of the applicability of the disciplinary process to the types of violations that occurred at Forest Ridge.  While our Board is hopeful that future violations can be avoided through other means, John suggested that we maintain awareness of the formal disciplinary process.  The Board agreed that I should give you this brief report and ask that you, as Unit Disciplinary Chair, give thought to how you would go about forming a disciplinary committee should the need arise.
