[SBU Board] Agenda for tomorrow's meeting

Hi All,

I am sorry that I won’t be able to be at the meeting tonight. I have to work games at the high school. Have fun!

A couple of my thoughts after looking at the agenda:


1.      Thank you for taking the time to help me pick out dates for the Trifecta. The sooner we can get them on the calendar, the more successful they will be. I went through the ACBL calendar when choosing the “suggested” dates, but it will definitely help to have more eyes on the situation in case I missed something.

2.      Free Plays. I am in favor of continuing to give board members free plays. I know that we all volunteer our time and energy to the unit board because we love bridge and we want to make it awesome and welcoming to all. We obviously don’t do it for the recognition, glory or the free plays. But, I think it is a nice gesture of appreciation to those who are working hard for our unit. We take time away from our families and work to go to meetings, set up/clean up for tournaments, and all of our side jobs within the board to make sure our tournaments and unit runs smoothly. I appreciate that people before my time on the board were thankful and grateful to those who served on the board to instill free plays for board members and others who do nice things for the Seattle Unit. I would like to see this tradition continue. I only have one year left on the board after this one, but when my time is done, I will whole heartedly support free plays to those who follow me. And most importantly, I think that the dollar increase in our tournament entry fees will be enough to cover the losses that we have had to absorb this past year.

3.      Round Robin: Teams are signing up! Keep spreading the word about how fun and cool this event is! I will give you an update next meeting as the deadline isn’t until March 31st for sign ups. My hope is to get more IN’s and newer bridge players involved in this event. Working on ways to do this.
