[SBU Board] A Few D19 Board Meeting Items

Much time yesterday spent discussing the recent large swing in exchange rates (now >1.25 to 1.00), its effect on district finances and on members on both sides of the border, and what entry fees to charge for regionals in 2015.  Even considered re-visiting entry fees tournament-by-tournament during 2015.  In the end it was decided to charge $14CDN at Canadian located regionals and $13US at US located regionals for all of 2015.  No acceptance of CDN$ in US at par since exchange is outside 1.05 to 1.00.  (Note: for Canadian located tournaments, ACBL sanction fees and director costs are paid in $US.)

Approved siting a regional at Whistler Nov 7-13, 2016.  No Vancouver BC area regional in spring of 2016.  Will explore shifting Spokane regional from fall 2016 to April 2016 and then possibly adding another small regional in either WA or BC in fall 2016.  (We need to keep an eye on potential impacts to our Unit 446 sectional plans/dates for 2016 -- regionals take priority and may bump sectional dates.)

Cam Doner and Ralph Lipe elected to the 2 Board of Governors vacancies.

A D19 board strategic planning meeting was scheduled for Monday of Lynnwood week in August.
