<p>I use gnome or xfce, having avoided kde for many years. I have always found it sluggish, and isn't there a licensing issue with the underlying libraries? <br>
Actually, I haven't finished the upgrade, but according to the revamped website, gnome is still the default.<br>
Will post results in a day our two.<br></p>
