</div>I have a customer with over 50 Dell desktops, laptops and servers and<br>
they work pretty well, though their lifespan isn't quite as long as I<br>
would like (they run reliably for about 3 years then fail in weird and<br>
wonderful ways). For Dell laptops, I would recommend that you avoid the<br>
whole Inspiron range as the keyboard seems flimsy (to me anyway).<br></blockquote><div><br>Re Dell:<br>I totally agree with the above. I use the Latitude business range for laptops (to get away from Inspiron flimsiness) and the lifespan in comparison to HP/Compaq isn't as good. I have an old HP compaq nx7000 that is running U10.04 still quite well after more than 6 yrs. The Dell laptops work OK for ~3 but then slow to a crawl. A 20minute boot-up after a re-image means something is seriously wrong hardware wise.<br>
<br>The desktop boxes have been reliable I have 20+ in 6 yrs only had a fan wobble and a dead CMOS battery.<br><br>The servers blow a disk a year. <br><br>The caveat is my boxes aren't highly stressed.<br><br>I would love to run a HP shop... better quality but price is the issue.<br>

</div>Umm... I've found MSI motherboards in some IBM server models, mostly<br>
tower servers. MSI makes pretty reliable stuff -- I had a Pentium Pro<br>
