Having tried Virtualbox on Vista to run Ubuntu, I wonder if there is a virtual machine for linux that would allow running an existing windows install. Start it on linux, point it at, say, sda1 which might be a windows partition, avoiding having to reinstall or violate the windows licensing.<br>

Ah yes, I hadn't thought about that. I was running it with W2k which isn't nearly as fascist about licenses. Worst case you might have to call their stupid phone number and tell them 3 times that you've only installed it on one system to get it reactivated. A pain, but it provides good fantasy material about flying to Seattle and choking the living daylights out of some stranger. :-)<br>
