Semi-retired for the past dozen years. Mostly because the consulting
gigs have become fewer and far between. So I picked up a gig teaching
UNIX/Linux System Administration part-time at the local Community College.

That has been REALLY fun until they came into $3 Million in grant money
to convert the classes to "online". Then all the administravia B.S. came
pouring in and schedules to keep and deliverables and far too many
meetings and WinBlows computers on GoToMeeting conferences that crash and
reboot every 5 minutes (they never heard of Vyew.com). I am reaching my
limit on patience and may bail before the "contract" is up and go work at
Home Depot or something far less stressfull.

Had a small stroke on June 2nd. 10 minutes of the most hellacious
roller-coaster ride from Hell, all while sitting in an easy chair grading
papers. Ischemic event that caused me to feel like I was spinning and
being pushed in several directions - practically threw me out of the
LazyBoy!!! Spent 1-1/2 days in University-of-Michigan Hospital. Nothing
was done for the stroke, but a LOT of tests and pictures were taken! It
only affected my balance (narrowed arteries up from the spine that feed
the back and core of the brain) and all the symptoms passed after only a
few days. PT cancelled all my appointments and sent me home after only my
first visit. My PCP (Primary Care Physician) is reluctant to sign me off
to drive as she says we should wait 6 months after any "event".

Otherwise, feeling great (tests show clean arteries, strong heart, good
lungs, okay cholesterol, okay sugar) and working around the house and
working on this crappy Mixed-Mode stuff for the college.

Just finished 1-1/2 YEARS of remodeling my girlfriends house. Painted
inside and out, patched roof, some drywall, blown-in insulation, new
kitchen, new floors, some electrical and plumbing -- yes, I am a jackass
of all trades! Now the house is on the market for sale and we are living
in my much smaller and affordable house (with machine shop, radio room,
plenty of antennas - we are both Hams, double-car garage).

As they say, "If they don't find ya handsome, they should at least find
ya handy!". Mary Anne (W8VWY) found me handy so she married me on April
5th of this year :)

    Enjoy!
