NAS suggestions

All,

  I am looking for inexpensive hardware (motherboard) that can be plugged into my network (GbE) that I can use as a network hard drive. I would like a good chipset to talk to a late model SATA drive that is fast, and one that has good Ethernet characteristics. I am having a lot of trouble with the 990FX/Sb950 chipset. 

  Basically, I am looking for a good platform to make a homemade NAS using Linux of course.

  Any ideas or suggestions?
