Yeah, I figured something like inotify would come in handy, but the
whole thing sounded like so much horseshit that I just really needed
someone else to hear it. I was honestly like "that is so blatantly
idiotic I can't believe that was even suggested... so am I missing
something esoteric about it?"

I guess I should just go w/ my gut and stop doubting ;)
