For what it's worth, I switched my wife over to XFCE  from 3.5  and it did not 
require any training and changes that she could see.

One exception:  to start an application from a desktop icon requires TWO 
clicks instead of KDE's normal one click.

Don't know why they don't allow one as an option, but they don't.

But that makes it more Windows-like.   Yuck
