Yes, get the driver from the nvidia site.

Hard to tell the exact way you can get to a terminal session but you might 
try:

boot
<go for coffee>
when you come back, the machine is probably waiting for you to login...  
hit ctl-f1  to get to command line level and hopefully you can see the login 
prompt.

Another method:
if you can see the grub boot screen, go to the failsafe mode which should put 
you into CLI mode.   

>From there you can do the install...   You'll have to get the driver file some 
other way, but hopefully you have another boot you can get to.
