Depends on where the resource contention is.  I'd guess based on your
usage patterns that they're CPU bound, but it might be RAM.

My VM servers are used primarily as build environments, and hit the
CPU, RAM & disk all hard.  They're all sitting on top of an 8 disk
RAID5 array, with 48GB RAM and 4 8core CPUs.
