Strange Printing Problem ...

Ok, this one INVOLVES a convoluted method.
I have a client that we put on Slackware 13.0 with VM Server to host
a SCO Open Server application called Soflex - Really, really OLD!!
The Soflex uses a PORT called lpout to direct it's print. The NEW machine
does not have any LP ports installed. We have switched to net Print Devices.
SOFLEX REQUIRES a physical PRINT DEVICE to print to. I circumvented that
by making lpout a named pipe and writing a SCO print filter that runs from
the data ibn lpout.
The problem I run into is when the a LONG print Job (more than 2 pages)
gets run, the print gets mangled. Heading appears in middle of the page,
Strange characters getting inserted ...etc..etc...
Any ideas ?
