I've been running mostly Sidux (Debian unstable) for about 3 years -
few if any complaints. I even put it on my Netbook - using XFCE and/or
LXDE. No problems.

About a month ago I put up PCLinuxOS just for something new, and I
like it quite well. PCLOS is available in almost every desktop
variant. I've got the KDE version on my desktop and the LXDE variant
on my Netbook.

PCLOS is a Mandriva variant - RPM based, but using APT and Synaptic as
the interface. Here are the essentials.

1) PCLOS activates and/or makes available all of the proprietary stuff
that makes life great but bugs the hell out of died in the wool
only-Debian-free-software will do crowd.

2) There is a bug (long-standing) in the latest Firefox with Nvidia
cards - eats up a lot of cpu. My idle cpu seldom goes below 10-16%.

3) LXDE is great. No Firefox problems with the Intel card on my
Netbook. My only gripe with LXDE is that they haven't yet put up a
standard battery monitor for laptops/netbooks.
