Any GigE Vision and GEN<I>CAM users out there?

We are looking at adding support for GigE cameras (see
http://www.machinevisiononline.org/vision-standards-details.cfm?type=5)
to our measurement system. This is an emerging standard for accessing
gigabit ethernet imaging cameras. I am curious if anyone else is doing
this with Linux.

There are a couple of companies that have a Linux SDK for GigE (see
http://www.prosilica.com/products/linuxsdk.html and
http://www.baslerweb.com/beitraege/news_presse_en_85529.html). But I am
unclear if there is more general support that is not vendor-specific. I
think these SDKs are going to be specific to each company's hardware.

Anyone else play with these things? We're just getting our feet wet.
