Well, they haven't moved here. Unemployment here and in Hong Kong seems pretty bad. A lot of my friends are out of work and they were all in IT previously. It affects the middle-aged (people over 35) worse, and employers prefer young and pretty to old and experienced. I'm a self-employed contractor now, so this ridiculous prejudice doesn't hurt me.

I read somewhere a long time ago that this is how representative government (whether western or eastern-style democracy) always ends up, with power concentrated in special interest groups. Of course, dictatorships and other government systems have a whole different set of problems.

Yeah, I heard about the weather. Terrible! Bring some of the cold temperatures here -- we need it because we're in a heat wave here.
