Mono (or moonlight IIRC as the mono version of silverlight) usually  
works. The problem is usually not mono, but the various media libs it  
uses. If you have an openSUSE install, the libs are rather limited.  
Add the Packman repositories to get libs that play back more formats.  
I cannot say about other distros. But this is usually one source of  
the problem. BTW, what do you neab that it does not work? What should  
have happened that did not  happen?
