Hmm! There are definite advantages to running unstable via sidux. I've
never encountered the problems you describe. OTOH, sidux is a KDE
distro, and the sidux developers (heavy duty Debian gurus) maintain
that Gnome is quite flaky on unstable. There are a few brave souls on
sidux who use Gnome, but the developers refuse to support it for the
aforementioned reason.
